Mountain biking is one of the fastest growing sports in the UK which is no surprise to us here in Mid-Wales as we have some of the best trails in Europe! Not only that you have the incredible scenery from mountains, forests and open countryside to beaches and rugged cliffs.
The area around The Escape is heaven for mountain bikers with the famous Coed Y Brenin, Climachx, Mach 1,2 & 3 and Nant Yr Arian cycle routes being only within 40 minutes drive. Not to mention numerous rides straight from the door of The Escape which Stuart will be more than happy to show you! No matter what your skill level, Stuart can advise you on the best routes, what each one is like and suggest a schedule for you to take in the best the area has to offer. We can also do guided tours to save fiddling about with OS maps and make sure you make the most of your time away, just let us know!
Coed Y Brenin
Anyone who is in to mountain biking will have heard of Coed Y Brenin which has the first trails that were specifically built for mountain bike use in the UK and the standard by which all others are measured. Last year saw the opening of the new million pound visitor centre which has a restaurant and bike shop with a selection of Specialized hardtails and full sussers to suit everyone. The trails themselves have been tweaked and improved and the names of most of them have also been changed, but they certainly have lost none of their potency! There is enough technical singletrack here to keep anyone happy for a whole weekend without even having to go anywhere else.

Nant yr Arian
Nant yr Arian is just east of Aberystwyth and takes about 35 minutes by car from The Escape. It is set high up in the mountains and is a Forestry Commission site with an excellent visitor centre, similar to Coed y Brenin. The two main routes here are the Summit and the Continental with the distances being about 16km and 35km respectively. They are in essence the same but with an extra loop in to the wilderness on the Continental with a couple of killer climbs but the views are breathtaking! The other killer climb is the ‘leg burner’ which seems to go on forever but you are certainly rewarded with some fantastic, fast flowing singletrack that just makes you want to go faster and faster! The visitor centre is also home to some great walks and watch out for the RSPB centre where they feed the Red Kites at 3pm every day, it really is amazing!
