It is a very popular resort and has a thriving little harbour, a picturesque seafront, shops, cafes and restaurants. It has a lovely sandy beach with sand dunes aplenty and is a haven for those wanting to partake in watersports including sailing, windsurfing, kitesurfing, fishing, boat trips and more!!! There is also an 18 hole championship golf course here for the golf enthusiast!
MACHYNLLETH
Machynlleth is a small thriving market town, and stands in Mid Wales at the head of the Dyfi estuary. For such a small town it has a lot of history – its main claim being that it was the location of the crowning of Welsh Rebel Owain Glyndwr as Prince of Wales in 1404 and for his holding of parliament in the town. There are several historic buildings to be found here too including the medieval town house know as “parliament house” in Maengwyn Street. Machynlleth is also well known as “the town with the clock”. The clock tower is the first thing that many visitors will notice when entering the town. It was built by the townspeople in the 1870’s and is the hub of the town from which the three main streets radiate. Machynlleth is home to some great shops. Other than the supermarket, you wont find any of your normal high street shops here. It has lovely gift shops, antique shops and lovely cafes and tearooms. The Tourist information centre houses information on all the local attractions, areas and activities as well as information on walking, cycling and mountain bike routes, to help you get the most out of your break.
